Our client has been manufacturing blinds for the past 20 years. The company offer customers a full measure and quote, manufacturing and installation service for blinds, drapes, safety doors, awnings and Venetians.

The client’s workplace consists of a factory, warehouse and office. The major risks associated with their business arise from the specific machinery and equipment, substances and processes required to manufacture the product and the subsequent hazards associated with the off site installation of the product.

The company has historically demonstrated a high commitment to occupational health and safety, however, system and legislative compliance has faltered due to staff turnover and competing demands. As a result, although some OHS initiatives were continuing the implementation and effectiveness of the measures were not being closely monitored, measured or improved upon.

The company recently chose to partner with The Brief Group again to reinvigorate their commitment to OHS and ensure the continual improvement of their OHS management system.

Our consultant visits the client every fortnight and works with the Department Supervisors to effectively implement the OHS management system and encourage staff to talk meaningfully about OHS again. Activities undertaken by our consultant include the development of a strategic action plan identifying the key objectives over the next year, reviewing the OHS Management System and making improvements, working with the Supervisors to undertake regular workplace inspections, reviewing risk assessments and reviewing and reinitiating the staff consultative mechanisms.
